Following up his highly acclaimed debut EP, ER305 returns with his latest offering, “of a diffERent cloth.” While “Tunnel Vision” had ER showing off his ability to rap over a different variety of production styles from Grammy nominated producers such as Cardiak and Nard & B, “of a diffERent cloth” showcases ER taking over the boards, producing four out of the six tracks on this latest project.
Picking up where songs like “Downtown” and “Empty Spaces” left off, ER’s latest project finds him mixing Miami’s signature heavy drums and bass with gritty obscure samples, creating a sound bed that allows fans of yesteryear’s production and fans of the current trap rap wave to exist and enjoy, while ER tops it off with direct, no holds barred lyrical jabs that illustrate the realities of day to day living, while also providing “game” as he calls it, for listeners to take away once they wrap up the six song project.
The EP does have its lighter moments, such as the Tro Beats produced “Any Given Sunday,” which can be the theme song to any weekend barbecue or boulevard cruise, as well as “In My Ride,” putting South Florida’s strong car culture on full display, with the assistance of the EP’s only feature & prior collaborator, Chace Greene.
“of a diffERent cloth” closes out with ER’s most introspective track to date, “Free”, produced by Bass Iz Loaded (formally known as Mista Marcus). The track encourages listeners to go hard for their goals and dreams, much as ER has done with his independent grind to get to where he is today.
